The idea goes back to the old west. Simplify your ammo needs by going with one cartridge that will fire in both your rifle and handgun.

So what would you choose? Name the model of the rifle/carbine and handgun and pick your cartridge that would be fired in both.

I would go with an Olympic Arms AR-15 and Glock 20 SF in 10mm. If someone made a carbine for the 9x25 Dillon, then better yet.

There was a question about how to prepare for recession and the answers were overwhelmingly "Stockpile Ammo"! Not "Invest in gold or foreign currency" etc... The answer in the US for everything seems to be get a gun! It's not even a financially rational investment if you buy when it's high and when the economy stabilizes to sell it off.

"I also hear things like, without guns, there's no freedom" - I've lived in many countries that ban guns and they're all quite free.

"If everyone had guns, you could stop a mall shooter before he kills too many people" - I find this statement jaw dropping.

"I need guns to feed myself" - No, no you don't.

"Police response time is too slow" - So pull out a gun and confront the criminal right away and amp up the situation? Go all John Wayne? Come on cowboy, you know you likely don't have the balls / the criminal takes and uses it on you / you can't get to it / you shoot somebody's kid dared into stealing some CD's etc... Cops are trained.

"We won't be able to fight the government" - If the government turns on you, and your sons, fathers, brothers in the US armed forces turn their guns on you, you clearly have bigger issues to worry about than having a handgun.

I mean, I find these pro-gun arguments hysterical. 30,000+ people in the US die every year from guns. Aside from the approx 28,000 suicides, over 11,000 die by gun assisted homicide and out of those less than 200 have any relation to self-defense.

There is overwhelming evidence that more guns = more murders. The US has more murders per capita than any other western country and 2,000,000 prisoners. They also have more handguns (more than one per person in circulation) than anyone. It doesn't cause crime? They'd do it with a knife then? How many people would try to pull off a bank heist with a bowie knife? Some maybe, but how many would be successful? How many spree killing would there be with hammers?

Is it just that guns are so f-ing cool? How cares what the realities are, I gotta have one?
"The 2nd Amendment says I can have one" - First off, so what? If the 2nd amendment said go jump off a cliff would you do that too? Second, no it doesn't, it says "...a well armed militia..." are any of you in a Militia?
The "Wise" Cat: "
Youve never been confronted with someone with a gun and dint have your own did you.." - Actually I have, it was a .22. I'd prefer it never happens again. I'd prefer the a-hole that pointed at me was not granted access to guns so he couldn't bring them to house parties and scare the sh!t out of people. Try telling the cops and see if they care to take his gun away when you complain about that situation until he finally blows some kids head off.

"You also ignore that More Guns - Less Crime." - That's just completely wrong if you care to know: www.nationmaster.com
I would also tell you that my cousin blew his best friends head off playing Russian Roulette drunk in the woods with 6 other guys when he was a teenager. He spent 2 years in prison for that. He will never be the same. He got the gun from his dad as a present. What a gift! You see, when the blowhards try to convince you only criminals kill, it's always after the fact, they weren't criminals before hand duh!

You don't own your property. Stop paying property taxes and see what happens. The government will take it away faster than Stalin.

You can't build an addition on your house without permission.

In California now you can't even smoke in your own home.

In Texas, plain clothes police are arresting people for being drunk in the bar.

If you don't put on a bicycle helmet, you get fined.

Most places you can't have a beer outside.

Hiring quotas dictate who you can and can't hire.

You only ever have one of two options of parties to elect and the only insight that can be gleaned from watching the American 2 party system is that there really is no choice. They continue the same policies.

So what makes Americans believe they are the "Freest Country on Earth" other than handguns?

who makes a good 9mm handgun? not necessarily cheap, but good quality and reliable. Manufacturers, makes, models are all welcome. thanks

Butte, Montana
November 5, 2007

Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11 year old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home

It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay shooting champion since she was nine.

Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals

When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive.

It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen .45 caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David O'Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.

Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news.......an 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants.....and she wins,

She is still alive.

Now that is Gun Control!

OK, so a friend of mine revealed a slightly horrifying fact to me the other day.

His uncle went to prison, convicted of spousal abuse and resisting arrest. He says his uncle claims he just had her in a headlock, and not a choke hold like the local police claim.

His uncle is a Vietnam veteran, ex marine, and has had many surgeries on his back, and is in pain constantly, taking large amounts of hospital-grade prescription pain killers (Morphine doesn't even work on him anymore).

My buddy told me the other day that a gun case and ammo for a gun, judging from the ammo a winchester revolver 38, appeared in the living room a few days ago, the room where, 'coincidentally', his uncle spends most of his time. Now, the only other people who live in the house, is an 80 something year old WWII vet who can barely get up anymore and can't even properly hold a cup of coffee; his 60 something year old grandmother; and himself, where as he's just year below being able to legally own a handgun.

The location is California...

I'm wondering if the family, which is nigh dependent on the checks that comes in for the uncle to stay afloat, will be convicted or charged for harboring something illegal. Two things, actually.

Far as I can tell, my friend seems to be afraid of his uncle snapping one day with the narcotic pain killers he's been prescribed (though he takes more than the recommended dosage), like he did with his wife, and killing them all... Particularly because he has gone on semi-psychotic and paranoid rants, three of which I've been present too, mostly concerning with the family is trying to get rid of him or his dog (which he treats more like a son than a dog).

Now, I know the man, my buddy and I have been friends for years... The old guy's a lying, exaggerating, "I've got the biggest and best stories and I'm better than all of you" macho, as well as racist, mentality.. Never mind the fact that my pal's girlfriend is half Mexican, and he's make several racist comments to me already.

Personally, I'm concerned for my friend's safety, as well as his grandmother's, they're cool people... But with the economy as it is, particularly in California, and the fact that he can't even get his foot in the door of the job market... Meaning that they're practically dependent on his uncle's checks to keep the power on and the food on the table... I'm not sure if I want to call the police for fear of getting all of them convicted, or winding up homeless.

So, please, I have to know... Would him and his grandmother (great grandfather's pretty much got Alzheimer's, so I don't think he's got anything to worry about) get in trouble if I were to call the cops?

Legal profession only please, like lawyers, veteran cops, etc. Non legal professionals will be ignored...

To make sure that people have actually read this, please include WTF045 at the end or beginning of your answer. Too many people on here answer after reading just two or three sentences.

taurus makes a model 856 38spl+p-6 shot 2".-22 oz. revolver, anyone know if the taurus is a reliable gun [good or not so good] i have a s/w 10-5 - 2" but not +p. taurus also makes mod. 817 - 7 shot 21oz +p. i want a concealed i can carry in pocket. they have blued or matte stainless steel finish. guess stainless is better. info. or ideas appreciated

It happened at about 11 o clock in McDonald's, where I work, 2 guys in hoodies and masks walked in one with a pistol (could have been fake) and one with a 12" blade, the guy with the blade hops on the counter and I drop the sweeping brush im using and run out the front door to call the police, I hear the rest of the story from those who remained in the restraunt:

They tell everyone to get down, kick in the door of the managers office push the manager to the floor, shout for money which is kept in the safe and cannot be opened, and so hop out the drive-thru window with no money and run off....

The police show up soon afterwards but no arrests were made and so i did a little detective work and inquired into one of my friends that another robbery took place months ago on a drug dealers house involving 2 guys one with a pistol and one with a 12" blade, Because it was a dealers house the robbery was never reported but prior to the robbery this particular guy was asking my friend for info about the house, definetly suspicious....

The next day im talking to a different friend and he says that while driving in his car the night of the robbery he sees this guy (who is the same guy we know to have robbed the drug dealer) drive up the road at a high speed with all his lights off...further suspicion...

So what to do with this info? i cannot prove it although its highly likely this guy did it in my opinion, so its unlikely he would be convicted, plus any testimony against him will only jeopordise myself along with anyone else that gave me info (12"'s Blade and a handgun !!!) not only this but testifying would also be admitting that my friend did infact give the info that resulted in the armed robbery of the drug dealer....

So just over a day ago, or more accurately around 30 or so hours ago I shot a real rifle and a real handgun for the first time in my life. Besides one time with a 22 rifle and one time with a 12 gauge rifle I have never shot guns before. I don't know what the exact type of guns I shot were but I will give as much information as I can. The rifle was a semi-automatic ex military rifle with a non-wooden stock... and the handgun was a 9mm if im not mistaken. First off I WAS OUTSIDE, but had no ear protection (I know it was dumb i didn't know better). I think I shot around 2 or 3 clips from the rifle, roughly 25 shots... maybe less; and about 3 clips so around 20-30 shots from the handgun.
After I was done my left ear was almost deaf, and my right also very hard to hear out of. Everything that I heard sounded twangy almost like metal (if i snapped it sounded like my fingers where metal...) Within a couple of hours my right ear was getting back to normal, and no more ringing. But now, 30 hours after, my left ear has gotten much better, still a small bit of ringing, but I still can't hear out of it to well. Everything just sounds dampened somewhat. Keep in mind it has gone from not being able to hear much at all to just a dampened sound... but I'm really scared that my hearing might not come back. I'm joining the NAVY and within around another 1 week or 2 I have to have a hearing test done, AND have normal hearing. So do you think it will come back after a couple more days... or did my first time really shooting guns give me permanent hearing loss? Right now it feels and I hear as if there was some water in my ear in a way. And please if you repond to this give me a way to help maybe make it heal better, or a method to aid in some way, instead of saying nah your screwed please lol.

I'm an E-4 in the USAF and my home of record is Southern California and would like to buy a handgun before i get out in the next 18 months. I have fired 6 different weapons to include a handgun since i have been in. The handgun safety certificate guide places 'active military members' in the 'excluded' portion. How do i provide proof of this? Just active duty ID card? Also being in the military make it any easier for applying for a CCW in California?

normally i don't head for the internet but.... so here is the story i met a girl and i like her but there are some catches. lets start with who i am. im currently in college making a 3.0+ 19 years old. i fight MMA, love to fish, hunt, camp, good with a wrench, have a pretty good amount of common sense, currently drive a car but want to trade it for a truck, and (although i have no intention of telling her...) come from a multi mullion dollar background. so pretty much an average overprivalaged Texan boy. she is a lower middle class not the best looking girl (btw from what i understand I'm not really "hot" but i am good looking), but pretty in my eyes, makes better grades than me but not by too much, runs cross country so she gets up at about 6 every day, she is socially akward ( I'm not the best but alot better).... not really a problem. okay now for downsides.... I'm pretty corrupt... meaning i drink alot, have smoked weed... alot but no longer like it at all.. while at the same time my roommates smoke... an incredibly about and out of boredom im growing a plant, own two guns a shotgun and handgun both unregistered (still legal), have stolen shit.... mostly simple stupid shit like signs, had sex, will never do hallucinogens, attend alot of parties/throw or organize my own parties and other peoples. thats just a basic idea of who i am now for her downsides or at least in my eyes. she is very catholic.... i dont really believe the bible is all true... but believe strongly in god, not sure if its a downside or up but has a brother stronger than me that also fights MMA, drives a prius.... i know i know dont judge but thats just weird to me after college i will probably be picking priu's out of my grill guard, doesnt drink (not a big deal at all), doesnt smoke... anything (great!), i believe she is a virgin! this could prove a problem to me ( would love a way to find this out or get an idea.... like maybe if i can see previous relationships in facebook or myspace) thats about all i can think of and to be honest i know what i'm gonna do already from just spilling my mind. still want advice and im gonna ask her out tomorrow. now gotta go coninue drinking my roommate under the table.

I was thinking of either modifying my spring handgun or make a homemade one and submit it to a competition. I'll get it back after a weeks time so I can still play with it afterwards.

P.S
I can't buy them in my country as it is illegal to sell/purchase but they turn a blindeye in the case of possession XD

I have seen this question before but i just wanna repost it (im rewording)

If islamic people came and tried to force there religion on you, would you submit? Would you fight? What would you do?

Personaly i Would blow the head off of anyone who tried to make me submit to a false religion (sorry, just live with it). A handgun, and a box of bullets is all i need to teach terroist to not to mess with America!

America FTW!
No no no no no.
Im not saying im gonna go over there and kill them im saying i would defend myself if they came over here

Please dont read this wrong and think im gonna go on a muslim genocide
Also if you think that christians try to push there religion on other people like islamic extermest you are wrong if i tell someone about my faith but they refuse, i (christians) dont strap bombs to our back and kill them!
When i finished the last edit, the amount of caracters i had left was 777, the number of perfection! So put tht in you fife and smoke it!

I know there's no specific gun suitable for ME until I try them. But I want to know where to start looking. I want this for self-defense; I'm a single mom and live on my own with my son and want to be prepared. I don't want a snubnose, I'm leaning towards an automatic, I don't want a huge kick-back and I want STOPPING-POWER...I don't want to have to fire off a whole clip to stop someone. I go target shooting with my friend and her dad and I'm pretty good with the 9mm and .22. I can make my mark within the first 3 shots, so i want something that's gonna take them down in as many shots (hopefully less lol). So what is recommended??

I would store this gun in my apartment (away from little hands) and I def want to do some range practice.

‘Oh this is too easy.’ Zeke thought as he walked half a block behind the man. His eyes kept the man in view and as they walked into a darker less up kept area, Zeke increased his pace, smelling the air. He could already smell the humans blood. He neared the man and then the drunk stopped suddenly. Zeke did not stop but slowed down. The man suddenly ran into an alley and Zeke heard the signs on vomiting. Zeke cringed. He hated killing guys like these and preferred the women, but there had been no single women in the bar and this guy would thank him. He neared the alley and looked in. There was almost no light, but darkness was his home and he could see perfectly. The man was hunched behind some garbage cans and Zeke walked in to make his kill.
Suddenly the drunk man whipped around. A small black object in his hand leveled on Zeke, and a early audible whizzing noise came and a pain shot through Zeke’s abdomen. ‘He’s got gun!’ Zeke thought, jumping back and evading another bullet. He slipped out of the alley and leaned against the wall. He looked at the injury nd felt it burning and saw it had no healed yet. ‘Silver,’ he thought, ‘he’s using silver bullets!’ Silver was like poison to vampire and was one of a few things that stalled their healing.
“You have had your last meal of humans, abomination!” the man’s voice echoed from the alley.
‘An order solder?’ Zeke thought, ‘he’s still only human’ he narrowed his eyes angry that this human had the gall to attack him. Zeke planned his attack and flipped around the corner
“Now, J!” the order solder yelled, firing a shot that hit the wall next to Zeke. Suddenly a shape leaped from the above building. Zeke dodged another bullet and the falling enemy. He jumped out of the alley and out of the soldier’s firing range.
The shape rose from the ground. It resembled a wolf, if wolves grew to almost the size of car and had forelegs that bent like a human’s. It’s enormous head was framed with a large grey mane and spotted with bright, almost glowing, yellow eyes. It’s fangs were bared in a vicious growl and it was crouched low like a cat ready to leap.
‘A werewolf too? Great.’ He thought. The beast glared at him and Zeke knew there was one way out of this. The wolf leaped at him, his large claws stretched out to shred Zeke’s head in it’s grasp. Zeke slipped forward and threw a solid strike with his palm to the monsters open chest. There was a slight crunch and it flew back, tumbling. The human exited the alley and turned to Zeke, raising the black handgun, complete with a silencer tube on the barrel.
Zeke, while angry, still needed the blood this solder had. As the man leveled his gun, Zeke’s left hand shot out, and a bolt of blue electricity fired from it, colliding with the solder’s gun. He shook for a moment and collapsed to the ground. Zeke could still hear his heart and turned his focus back to the werewolf, who was rising to its feet. “Go home, puppy.” Zeke said coldly. Sparks of bright blue cracked from his body. “Your out of your league.”
The wolf growled and began a slow walk into the street, as if trying to circle his prey. Then it leaped and slashed at Zeke again. Zeke held his ground, blocking the attack, he grabbed the wolf’s head and slammed it into the ground, causing the ground to crack under the immense pressure. In a flashy movement, he drew a foot long silver blade from the back of his belt. He raised the weapon overhead and brought it down the beasts back it’s left side.
The wolf howled in pain and struggled to free itself, but Zeke held it fast and it could not escape. It’s thrashings quickly stopped and it was still. Then, the hair of the monster faded, its wolf face retracted to reveal a man in his thirties, and the body slowly phased back to a human, wearing nothing but blood.
He turned back to the human he had left. The man had risen up and retrieved his gun. Zeke faked to the left and tried to approach on the man’s left but a bullet hit him and caused him to stop. ‘He’s too fast for a human.’ He thought. Then it clicked. “You’re a craft user aren’t you?” He said.
“yep” the man replied, his gun trained on Zeke. “I can read your pathetic mind and know every move your gonna make.” He finished with a grin. “want to just give up?” he pulled a long silver knife from his coat and kept the gun level.
Zeke pondered for a moment. He could leap the wall and take him down, a few bullets would heal in time, even silver ones. The stake would hurt if he connected, and he would’nt. But a new plan was born in the deep reaches of his mind. “you read minds, coorect?” Zeke asked, grinning so his fangs showed.
“What of it?” The man asked, his face focused.
Zeke chuckled. “Then I invite you into my mind.” He spread out his arms and delved into his deepest memories. Images of bodies piled high, machine guns tearing men in half. Cannons destroy the land as arms and legs lay strewn about like straw. The man’s face began to pale and he began to

What is the age limit to having an Expunged Juvenile Mental Record in owning a pistol in Louisiana?

I was mentally instituted at the ages 13 1/2 & 17 1/2 by my parents, not by law. I was on medication until the age of 19, April 26, 2009. I plan on owning a handgun at the age of 21 after I get my 2 year college degree & become a Bail Enforcement Agent on the year 2011? When I was in high school, my guidance counselor said that all of this is Expunged/Sealed, is this true? If not is there a way that I can have it Expunged/Sealed, maybe by court or with a help of an attorney? Is there a way that I can prove that I am responsible enough & that I'm not a danger to anybody nor myself, which I never was by the way? Ever since I got off of my Meds things were alot better for me, that this is the first I've ever at least thought about going to college because I did hate school, I've been hanging around with people I've known, I've been making new friends & finally asked a girl out to the prom. Plus I have No Criminal Record nor offenses. And would joining up for the NRA help build some kind of reference?

I really want to become either a Bail Enforcement Agent, work for myself, make the world a place & serve my country & don't want my Criminal Justice Degree go into a waste.

I currently have a Walther P22. I love the gun's comfort and very small size which makes it very easy to conceal and very comfortable to shoot. This gun fits without a holster comfortably in my waste line on my side. I read several reviews and found that most people either love it or hate it. I'm kind of in between. It does like to jam if you do not keep the gun oiled frequently. I'm looking for something with a higher caliber with good reliability and around the same size as the P22. I do not particularly like Glock because I hate not having a hammer. So if anyone has any suggestions on a similar higher caliber but yet very small pistol with a hammer please let me know. I just need the same or similar dimensions and also light weight. Thanks.

After an international study by the cdc, the study found that gun-related deaths were five to six times higher in the Americas than in Europe or Australia and New Zealand and 95 times higher than in Asia. There's also the great controversial number 43. That a gun in a home is 43 times more likely to kill a friend or loved-one than be used against an intruder-and before some of go there, (I'm well aware of the suicide stats on this) no need to reiterate. I'm not looking to get a p!ssing match with stats. Regardless, of how one wants to spin these numbers-I just don't see why so many people are fascinated with tools that are designed to kill. Tools that destroy thousands of lives each year. When I was in my 20's i was pro-gun. I was a proud card carrying member of the NRA. I even voted for GW. But when my head popped out of my ass in my thirties, and I realized that if I'm not here to make the world a better place in the short amount of time we're here, then what's the point? I didn't see how guns helped-so I changed sides. Sorry. What I can't figure out, is why so many of us are still so fascinated. This to me goes far beyond second amendment rights-it's "how do guns help us as a collective" I've pondered on this question for months now, and just can't figure it out. Sorry in advance to all you pro-gun guys. No disrespect. I'm just trying to understand the mentality here and maybe see if there's something I'm missing.

Ok, let me have it. Take your best shot.
Britney-I'm a white guy in his mid 30's. Funny how a little cartoon avatar immediately changes one's perception on a question being asked.

Ever since my aunt was in Katrina and she needed a gun but had hers taken away. So im contemplating on a handgun round, and possible carbine choice. I've looked at the Berreta handguns in 9mm and .40 and now they make a carbine in 9mm and .40 they also share magazines.

Is the 9mm powerful enough to take a guy down in your home? What about hotter loads?

I tried to buy ammo with my mom at walmart, this is THEE ONLY TIME I have had trouble. There is this liberal bitch behind the counter, when she asked mom what kind of ammo, mom asked me. I answered to the Blady "WWB .45ACP Bulk Pack", she refuse to sell it calling it a straw purchase because I answered. Mom doesn't know anything about ammo/guns so thats why she asked me. When the Blady refused to sell it because a minor answered, mom said it was for dad, who was busy at the moment, that bitch said he would have to come himself and buy it (you all know how fast 16$ .45ACP goes out of stock).

I explained to her and the manager about the Youth Sized Pink single shot Cricket .22 rifle, and that it is designed for youths, which in itself is a straw purchase and that they were self contradicting in their statements.

They both went as far to LIE to me saying it was federal law, everyone else has no problem showing me a handgun or letting me examine ammunition (even taking it out of the box and viewing/comparing). This frustrates me as .45ACP is SOOOOO expensive and hard to find.

Our rights have been violated; I'm calling in the big guns (NRA and news writer friend) about this new tactic of making me at the mercy a inexperienced liberal to get my ammo.

Is this, buying ammo for someone else (like husband) a federal offense (she said "felony")?

Should I go as far as to complain to the NRA?

I'm looking for a four-barrel handgun, and ive found a few, but all of them are antiques. where can i go to get a custom built? I'm a collector of handguns, (and i dont mind antiques) but i'd like a quad-barrel that can shoot.

what could i replace the word 'AND' with in these sentences. And how do i not make them run ons?

the Rams? The NFL is proving more and more that they are just a group of elitists and narrow minded people who would rather have criminals than people with differing political views... here are some NFL Criminals

OL - Nate Newton
Newton was caught with 213 pounds of marijuana in 2001, then two weeks later was caught with another 175 pounds. He served two years in jail and has recently come clean about his smuggling days, stating ""It was all the fun the law would allow...and then some."

OL - Kenyatta Walker
Walker was arrested for disorderly conduct (a rather light charge for this list) in 2003 in New York City.

OL - Barret Robbins
Among the NFL's Weed Crew, Robbins went missing before the 2003 Super Bowl while with the Oakland Raiders. He was later charged for attempted murder, and was also arrested for marijuana while awaiting that trial.

DL - Dana Stubblefield
In 2000, Stubblefield was arrested after an argument between he and his wife escalated into a fight. He was charged with assault, though he insisted that only words were exchanged.

QB - Steve McNair
Arrested in May of 2003 for drunk driving, a search of his Lincoln Navigator later turned up a 9mm handgun. The record, combined with the 27,000 yards passing and 192 total touchdowns are good enough to make the team. Honorable mentions for this go out to Broadway Joe Namath, who was oh so close to making the list due to sexual harrassment, and Peyton Manning, who was actually one of those listed by a University of Tennessee trainer as among those who did harrass her, although disciplinary action was handled by the coach.

WR - Randy Moss
Completing the most feared receiving duo in the history of football is sports' ultimate road rager. Moss was arrested in 2002 after allegedly trying to run over a traffic agent.

LB - Lawrence Taylor
In the words of Rick James, "Cocaine's a hell of a drug."

CB - Ricky Manning, Jr.
Manning, fresh off a new deal with the Chicago Bears, and his posse allegedly laid down the law on some poor guy in a Los Angeles restaurant in 2005.

Robinson reportedly offered about 40 bucks to an undercover police officer for a b.j. the day before he was supposed to make his third straight Super Bowl start. Apparently, he had the baby batter on the brain and didn't want to go out with a loaded gun.

S - Sean Taylor
The budding Washington Redskin was arrested after an altercation broke out when his all-terrain vehicles were taken. He was originally charged with pointing a gun during the dispute, though he denied having a gun.

RB - Najeh Davenport
Probably the strangest of the crimes listed, Davenport was charged with breaking into a woman's dorm room and defecating into a laundry basket her closet. Criminal charges against the Packer running back were settled via community service in 2002, but the woman sued Davenport in 2004.

Gun laws only punish those who follow the law. Look at NYC where you basically can't legally carry a pistol around and it cost you about $600 to just own a gun in your own home!!! When they past those laws did the criminals pay the $600 per handgun they owned? Do they register there firearms? I live in the Georgia thank God but that's just an example. I really don't understand the logic. If someone breaks into your home with a gun with the intent to harm you, What are you going to do. You can't call the police they have a gun to your head. Guns are the most effective tool law abiding citizens have to keep peace for themselves and their families. Why, because they are also the tool used by criminals.

Just received an e-mail from a friend that a Airline Pilot has been reinstated to his job after being fired when a pistol he carried discharged and put a hole in the aircraft. No info as to what make hand gun or caliber it was though the pilot was licensed and had attended the federal class to carry it on flights.
I carried a revolver and later a semi auto for over 32 years in law enforcement and removed and holstered it thousands of times and never had one go off. When assigned to evening shifts I along with many of the men and women I worked with would draw and re-holster our weapon dozens of times during the shift of eight hours and never have a discharge.
I say the guy was screwing around with the gun and it went off my friend defends the guy saying that it was a defective holster as declared by his attorney and upheld by the aritrator hearing the case.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ?
Red River the incident took place in 2002 on a US Airways flight from Denver to Charlotte the Captains name is Jim Lagenhahn CBC news has released the information today. I had heard of the incident but forgotten about it until my friend e-mailed the information to me today. The Pilot was also a retired military pilot and I had forgotten that.
I own many, many firearms and worked in a progun department for many years and wish I was still there but got too old to be of any real use.
Thanks
Thanks guys I have read your answers and will give you all a thumbs up and that includes you Red, had I gone the extra yard and included all the info related to me your answer may ahve been different.

Not suprised to see that as of this date 10-13-09 nothing about the out come has been in the press.
My friend is a pilot and received his information through a aviation release.
The pilot got a leg up from Homeland Security that maintained the holsters were defective, no information on what holster was in use at the time. If I find out I will share the info with you, sure would not want to get a defective holster and ruin my record of no accidental discharge would you ?
FOUND IT !
Go to US Airways Pilot Jim Lagenhahn
and you will find a report of the incident.
Not suprising no-one can agree on the correct spelling of his last name it is also spelt LANGENHAHN and as you read the print you will find it in both spelling.... I feel vindicated almost.

I first off want to make it clear that I am not some crazed lunatic thinking everyone is out to get me..I am a college student..live in a fairly large city and live in a new apartment complex...the city has a high crime rate and even though I live in really nice apartments things are broken into and vandelized here all the time..I was looking for a hand gun to keep near my bed or vehicle....I can not afford what I really want..Springfield xdm 9mm...and need a cheaper yet good alternative...What suggestions can you give me? ALSO..I already have a pump 20 gauge...pump 12 gauge..300 mag encore rifle with interchangeable barrels..2 50 cal muzzleloaders.. a 270 a 243 and a 30-6 semi auto for hunting but I doubt any of these would have good manuverablity if I needed to grab it quick or have it in a tight spot..so which hand gun would be recommened for me..on a budget..and also out of the guns I have which would be best for a backup in the bedroom
Edit- I am 21..have hunted for about 11 years..had safety classes in hunting and hand guns...

Im in 9th grade and I have to write ANYTHING about anything, Here it is. This is the first part.

Chapter 1: General Doctor

Today in the small clinic of Cottonwood, New York, Dr. Freemore had noticed something odd. He woke up at 5:45 AM and ate breakfast as usual. He dressed up for work as a General Doctor and drove to work in the chilly day of fall. He was 34 years old and had practiced to be an Infectious Disease Specialist (IDS). An IDS would review a patient’s medical records, including X-rays, laboratory reports, etc. He would check if his patient’s had any type of disease including bacteria, virus, fungi, and parasites. But he wanted something simpler and that would make his life less complex and became a General Doctor. He still wasn’t been married. He had no TV and a laptop, which he used for his work and nothing more. A big event could happen and he would be unaware of it. Matthew’s life was very simple and relaxing until today.
During the last 3 months, 5 of his patients had experienced similar but odd symptoms, including nausea, fatigue, and most unusual of all, weakened muscle tissue. One of them passed away, his name was Oscar. Oscar was already 57 and weak, but still in good shape. He often traveled around the world to see the most exotic places. His death had been unexpected and family members had asked why. Dr. Freemore, also known as Matthew responded by saying that it was a bacteria that he caught when he traveled to Africa that attacked his organs. He knew that it was a lie but he might have become a suspect in his unexpected death, especially if Oscar’s family had known about Freemore’s past records.
Matthew began to worry if this new disease would murder his other patients. He went home to relax and thought and even though he tried not to think about it, he did. 3 days went on and another of his 5 patients already died. This time it was a young female, about the age of 27. Her name was Jessica. She was slim and was originally from France. This time, Freemore knew that her family would get skeptical and eventually tell the cops. He found out when one his co-workers had told him. He grabbed a week’s worth of provisions; a couple of old clothes and ran away as soon as he heard sirens of the police in front of his small, isolated house.
He escaped through his rear door, in silence and disappeared into the midnight darkness. He did not know the streets well as he always drove to his job and never really went outside except to shop for food. As he walked he began to question where he could go. He didn’t really have a “real” companion in the last couple of years. Matthew just though and though as he kept walking to the middle of nowhere until he was… nowhere. He turned around and maybe he could he could retrace his steps. No luck. He was in the middle of a parking lot, the size for a shopping center. The only thing making him see was a dim light near him from a lamppost that kept blinking. Matthew began to get anxious and took a pill from his briefcase. His black suit made him somewhat concealed with the darkness, except for his white shirt and his skin that was beginning to get pale.
“Hello? Is anybody out there?” he loudly stammered. Hoping to get a response, he became even more nervous and checked his cell phone. No signal. He moved on and maybe, just maybe somebody would be waiting for him. He wanted somebody to be close to him and regretted running away from the cops. And that’s when he first heard the footsteps. It was a few feet in front of him. Possibly someone or something heard him when he yelled for help. No, it couldn’t have been something. Matthew was smart enough not to believe in any of this stuff.
Of course, he had prepared when he left the house, so he bought a handgun. It was a Browning Hi-Power, (which looked like an average handgun) but he did not exactly how to shoot it. He unlocked the safety and tried pointing forward as professional as possible.
“Who is that?” he said is a smooth loud calm voice. As the footsteps got closer, the dim light showed the footsteps was a human figure. He wanted to yell but what if it was someone who wanted to hurt him? His sweat began to touch his shaved beard and his hands began to sway.
“Ahhhhhh!!!”
He ran as fast as possible and shot his gun backward toward the “human” as he was yelling in fear. He couldn’t possibly shoot a human but he didn’t want to get hurt. His veins were pumping with adrenaline and he did not bother to think for one second. He was panting and was running really fast. He ended up in a glass door....

I'm starting to make a graphic novel. I'm not that good a drawer just yet but I'm improving.

Anyway, the premise is similar to Supernatural. Hunters that kill supernatural monsters. It's a team of 4 people who travel around Brittian in a motorhome.

A confident, strong willed yet kind hearted leader who doesn't socialise much and just wants to get the job done. He is a weapons expert and particularly skilled with a handgun, but is good at all types of fighting and has lots of experience and knowledge of hunting.

A quiet, cripplingly shy girl who is very intelligent. She enjoys fantasy and investigating and is very intelligent. She has a bachelors degree in engineering and is an expert on the supernatural and science.

A friendly, insightful, yet easily distracted man with a fairly bohemian attitude, looking at most everything positively. He is very determined when he sets his mind to something and has trained in several martial arts, as well as knowing fluent latin and greek, used when the group needs a translation or a ritual performed.

A rebellious, outgoing girl who loves the supernatural world and is a practiced witch. She is often quite critical, and can get angry at times. The newest member of the group, she is skilled at pyromancy, invisibility, telepathy and has limited control over spirits and the spiritual plane.

They will fight many supernatural beings such as ghosts, banshees, vampires, ghouls, werewolves, fairies, witches and more.

So yeah, what do you think?

don't answer if you don't know, and don't tell me to wait until im 21! in 2012 when i am 21 it will be impossible for me to acquire any handgun because of the "ammo stamping" law which will take effect before im 21. it requires all new handguns to have a cereal number engraved in the fireing pin and i doubt manufacturers will make their guns compliant, and if they do the price will be too high for me to afford. i am a responsible 18 year old who has been shooting all my life, i own several guns and want a 1911 style pistol. i wanted to buy a semi completed frame and finish it. i have all the tools and knowledge needed to do this but don't know if i will be able to register it when it is complete. Ca law says that all hanguns must be registered, and you must be 21 to buy a handgun. it also says that an 18 year old can possess and use a hangun, and that you can construct your own gun as long as they comply with all Ca and federal laws. this is very confusing to me???? if i can build the gun legally can i register it???

i asked this question and still have questions so i'll post it again.

How old do you have to be to buy guns? i think you have to be 18 to buy rifles and shotguns and 21 to buy handguns, but im not sure, is that right? and to get a license to own a gun do i have to just go down to a gun store and ask for one? i live in the state of michigan. i always thought that you had to have a licence to own a gun? i was watching cops and this guy had a gun on him and the cop asked him if he had a licence for it, the guy said no. im not sure if the licence was just to carry the gun around, or if certain states make you buy a license to own tyhe gun.

30 yr old male, live in a NON liberal state - NJ, and will only be transporting my handgun in trunk, with bullets far far away. Would it be in my best interest to have some ammo at home for self defense? I really don't need it and I'm in a good neighborhood, and it's just me in the apartment so i dont have to worry about kids or family members getting to the weapon...would you keep some ammo at home for self defense? or leave it strictly as a hobby/range weapon and not have live rounds at home at all ? Also, since i'm in NJ, only 10 round clips are avail for the glock17, i went ahead and purchased a 17 round mag online, i wonder if i can get in a lot of trouble, or hefty fine if I get caught with a 17 rd mag while leaving the house. I guess the 17 rd mag would be left at home with a full clip (IF i were to keep any live rounds at home at all). Give me ideas and suggestions and thoughts, remember, it will be used for range/hobby purposes only, should i have some live rounds at home, or should i make my home 100% injury proof and leave the bullets at the range, or leave a few home, what do you guys think? btw, this is prob a factor, but there hasnt been a break-in, near my area in about 20 years.
To all of you saying that I'm not telling the truth regarding the 17 rd mag...I must admit my order did go through, and my card was charged, but I did not receive an email yet stating that the magazine could not be delivered. The current status is pending when i check online order status. Also, i am 15 min from PA. so i can walk into any gunshop there also and buy a 17 rounder and walk out without problem too...I figured i'd do so online ,but if they give me a problem, i can just go to PA and do the same as the other poster mentioned

I am an 18 year old college student who is interested in purchasing his first gun in the summer. I am interested in guns and shooting and want to become more familiar with guns and having gun(s) around the house for home defense. Presently my only experience with guns is with my uncle's 12 and 16 gauge shotguns.

Nobody in my family knows much about guns and of course like other gun-ignorant people, are scared of guns. This will make me one of the few people from my California-family who have entered the realm of firearms.

I am wondering three things primarily.
a) What would be the best way for me to prepare and learn about buying and owning guns
b) What kind of gun should I purchase as a good, fairly cheap beginner firearm
c) Does anyone have a good link to specifics about California gun laws?

Mainly, I am wondering what kind of beginner gun ownership courses I should look to take (if any). Is it true that gun shows are better places to buy guns than gun shops?

Also, I am considering now to buy a shotgun (most likely, they seem the cheapest, simplest to maintain and handle) or maybe a Colt 1911 or a Glock model because ammunition is cheaper and I will need a lot of practice. I understand I cannot buy a handgun until I am 21, but I have heard that you can OWN a handgun if you're 18, just not buy one - say if someone buys one and then transfers ownership to you. Is this true?

Thank you for your help.

I've done this a few times, from the US. A couple of times, I've had my CCW pistol on my person while crossing into Canada, and have forgotten about it until after I was over the border. Whoops! Fortunately, I have no criminal record, and have never been pulled aside for additional inspection.

I also accidentally forgot about a handgun in my checked luggage when I flew to Barcelona, Spain. I guess it made it through security. I was pretty alarmed when I saw it in there, since that could be serious jail time if you get busted illegally importing firearms.

I cut open the mattress of my hotel's bed, and stowed it in there for a while. I eventually managed to sell it though one of my local friends; I made a couple hundred Euros. Less than it was worth, but in a case like that, I was glad to pay a "broker's fee," lol. I wasn't going to risk sending it back to myself through the luggage or the mail, obviously.

Has anyone else done this? Should there be an international UN treaty protecting the rights of international travelers who do this by accident?

What does, "the Second Amendment guarantees an individual's right to guns only in the face of federal regulation, not against state and municipal restrictions."
this was in the USA Today in an article about how Chicago gun owners are going to the Supreme Court to challenge a lower appeals court ruling on the Chicago's handgun ban. (the lower appeals court ruling is what is written above in quotations).
i've read and reread the article multiple times to get an understanding for it but im having a hard time grasping it and puting it into my own words.
please help, its for a big (senior) gov project.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no 'stupid' answers just restating the 2nd amendment for me, i understand what the second amendment is...i just don't understand what the court's ruling means. and honestly, i dont need any opinions on the subject, sorry if that sounds rude...
thanks! if possible, will you please tell me what makes you qualified to even answer this ? (personal experience or just being smart is good) or where u got the answer.
THANK YOU so much :)
also...how do i choose the best answer, like what do i do to choose an answer as the best on yahoo!answers so i can close the question?

and so he is obsiously responsible for what they do don't deny it.Certainly doesn't sound like free trade is does it? I suppose some of you liberals will try to stike me down like van jones a proven communist with connections to radical preists and secret Commies.

Since Obama will try to take over your healthcare by saving poor people(as if that'll save the economy, if they die quicker like old people thats less resources we have to spend on them. DUH!? it so against free trade.

Plus I think sarah plain is smart. at least she's not some dumbfuck who pelieves in libbir science like monkey man, global warming, or that the bible can't be considered a scientific encyclopedia.

Back to Obama I hate him and you should to as he is obviously making the place a communist place.

Didn't any of yolu hear how he started shooting down millions of people here in texas? I mean I admit SOME of them shot each in confusion because they all had handguns but theres no denying it was oabama!

JOIN THE TEABAGGERS!

Alright, so truthfully, I don't own a handgun, yet. But before making any decisions, I thought I'd post a question about the feasibility of using a custom grip on a handgun with an angle close to that of a rifle-grip and the pros and cons of doing so. I have some general ideas about the good and bad, and I think that it would allow for a more natural feeling for me when aiming but getting a professional opinion or two would help. Also, if you can give me any advice on how to go about purchasing grips like this, a reliable company or something like that, please let me know. I'm looking forward to getting some answers, thanks guys.

i need help!! so how would u repsond 2 this article?
-Supreme Court takes a fresh look at handgun laws-
WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court could ignite a vigorous new fight over state and local gun controls across the nation when it rules on a challenge to Chicago's handgun ban.
The court said Wednesday it will consider a challenge to Chicago's ban, and even gun control supporters believe a victory is likely for gun-rights proponents.
If the court rules that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms doesn't allow the city's outright handgun ban, it could lead to legal challenges to less-restrictive laws that limit who may own guns, whether firearms must be registered and even how they must be stored.
The court last year moved in the direction of voiding tough gun control laws when it struck down a prohibition on handguns in the District of Columbia, a city with unique federal status. Now the court will decide whether that ruling should apply to local and state laws as well. The court will hear arguments in the case early next year, and a ruling probably would follow in the spring.
The court has said previously that most, but not all, rights laid out in the Constitution's Bill of Rights serve as checks on state as well as federal restrictions. Separately, 44 state constitutions already enshrine gun rights.
Though faced with potential limits from the high court on their ability to enact laws and regulations in this area, 34 states weighed in on the gun-rights side before the justices agreed to take the case Wednesday, an indication of the enduring strength of the National Rifle Association and its allies.
The gun case was among several the court added to its docket for the term that begins Monday. Others include:
• A challenge to part of a law that makes it a crime to provide financial and other aid to any group designated a terrorist organization.
• A dispute over when new, harsher penalties can be given to sex offenders who don't register with state sex offender databases.
• Whether to throw out a human rights lawsuit against a former prime minister of Somalia who is accused of overseeing killings and other atrocities. The issue is whether a federal law gives the former official, Mohamed Ali Samantar, immunity from lawsuits in U.S. courts.
In the gun case, outright handgun bans appear to be limited to Chicago and suburban Oak Park, Ill. But a ruling against those ordinances probably would "open up all the gun regulations in the country to constitutional scrutiny, of which there are quite a few," said Mark Tushnet, a Harvard Law School professor whose recent book "Out of Range" explores the often bitter national debate over guns.
Already, Alan Gura, who led the legal challenge to the Washington law and represents the plaintiff in Chicago, is suing to overturn the District of Columbia's prohibition on carrying firearms outside a person's home. Illinois and Wisconsin have similar restrictions.
In voiding Washington's handgun ban last year, Justice Antonin Scalia suggested that gun rights, like the right to speech, are limited and that many gun control measures could remain in place.
Ultimately, said Tushnet, the court will have to decide, possibly restriction by restriction, which limits are reasonable.
"It's very hard to know where this court would draw the line between reasonable and unreasonable," he said.
in a paraghraph respond to the article!!!!

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Gang Unit seized dozens of high-powered weapons and arrested 11 men—three of them Bell Gardens residents—on Sept. 24; they face federal charges for trafficking weapons and drugs following a nine month investigation.

Two Bell Gardens half-brothers, Henry “Silent” Valenzuela, 37, Sergio “Lil Silent” Calderon, 23, and their stepfather, Javier “Padrastro” Avila Lopez, 49 of Watts, are identified as heads of “Barrio Evil 13” in a sworn affidavit by a federal ICE agent.

An undocumented immigrant and Bell Gardens resident, Everado “Lalo” Venegas-Lumbreras, 38, was also arrested. He was allegedly a “runner” for Lopez and transported and delivered narcotics and firearms. Lumbreras’ has an outstanding deportation order dating back to 1999.

The investigation is part of an ongoing initiative by ICE’s National Gang Unit, “Operation Community Shield,” which investigates transnational street gangs conducting crime in the U.S. and other countries, according to an ICE statement and the affidavit.

Dozens of high-powered weapons, including assault rifles, handguns, silencers, a shotgun and thousands of rounds of ammunition were seized at four locations where search warrants were served, federal officials said.

The affidavit listed Valenzuela’s home in the 6600 block of Ajax Avenue, Calderon’s residence in the 5800 block of Gage Avenue and a warehouse in the 7500 block of Scout Ave. where additional illegal weapons were found, according to Dixon.

ICE Spokesperson Virginia Kice told EGP that the gang is based in South Los Angeles, “but several of the members do currently reside in Bell Gardens.”

According to the affidavit, Valenzuela claimed to be a hit-man for a Tijuana Cartel and said he had been paid $15,000 for a “hit” in Barstow, California on Sept. 2. He also allegedly tried to recruit an undercover investigator to carry out “hits” in the Los Angeles area for $5,000 to $10,000. Valenzuela said he had six more murders-for-hire in Los Angeles still to carry out.

Valenzuela has a criminal record dating back to 1999 that includes arrests for vandalism and possession of a controlled substance. He was charged in 2007 with assault with a deadly weapon, but was not convicted.

His younger half-brother, Calderon, was acquitted of the same assault charge. In 2003 he was arrested by Vernon police for vandalism, but was not convicted, according to the affidavit.

Valenzuela and Caldron’s stepfather, Lopez, was arrested in 1999 for Shooting at a Dwelling, and later convicted of Discharging a Firearm in Public.

Lopez allegedly told an informant that he smuggled undocumented immigrants and made frequent trips to Mexico to escort “load vehicles” across the border. He said he charged $2,500 per person.
The three men are accused of acquiring and distributing narcotics (cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine) and firearms in Los Angeles and Bell Gardens.

“The gang members and associates charged in this criminal complaint are alleged to have trafficked not just in drugs, but in weapons, and not just any weapons, but weapons clearly intended for criminal conduct, including an AK-47 assault rifle, a Tec-9 sub-machinegun, a MAC-11 sub-machinegun, and a sawed-off shotgun,” said Acting U.S. Attorney George S. Cardona in a statement. “The arrests made yesterday eliminate a source of firearms that would otherwise be out on the streets being used to commit additional violent crimes.”

Also arrested and facing federal charges for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana are: Eduardo Ortega-Plascencia, 39, an undocumented immigrant residing in East Los Angeles; Margarito “Tito” Enciso, 27, of Long Beach; and Silverio Palma-Carlin, 31, of Jalisco, Mexico. Two other men have also been arrested on state drug trafficking charges: Francisco Arellano, 32, and Alfredo Rutillo-Medina, 27, both of Nayarit, Mexico, according to ICE.

If convicted, the maximum possible penalty for the charges is life in prison, according to ICE.

An ICE spokesperson, Virginia Kice, told EGP the gang is based in South Los Angeles, “but several of the members do currently reside in Bell Gardens.”

Bell Police Department Detective Terry Dixon, who assisted in the investigation and carrying out the search warrants, said “Barrio Evil 13” is a new gang in Bell Gardens. It is believed the gang members have moved there, and did not sprout from the community, he said. The Bell Police Department has a part-time field officer who assists ICE’s Gang Unit, he told EGP.

“That’s all we’re targeting, gangs,” Dixon told EGP. “We’re not targeting ‘average Joe’ citizens.”

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department; the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services; and officers from the Bell, Huntington Park, Vernon and Long Beach police departments assisted in the

Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Heckler and Koch handguns, etc.

And are you excited about it?

Me? Thanks for asking, I'd love to share. I just purchased the Cuisinart 16 cup Elite Food Processor from Williams-Sonoma. This will be my first food processor, and I am so excited I may not sleep for the entire five days it will take to get here. Maybe I will sleep, but only to dream of slicing, shredding, chopping, mixing and kneading...
Due to financial circumstances, and my husband's penchant for handguns, I have been waiting for several months to make this purchase. Why, I've even had to go back to buying mayonnaise! Expensive and yucky.
My daughter complained all summer that I wouldn't buy something to just get by, so she could make smoothies. But I tell you that if I had done that, I would be living with a blender I would be dissatisfied with for years before I finally got what I wanted. This way, I suffered for a few months, and now what I want is on its way. Patience is finally my reward.
Share with me your appliance = love story!
EDIT: Ooh! I got a new range about a year ago! I found, on a fluke, a 5 burner ceramic top (no gas out here) with a convection oven for half price, because it had a small dent! Woot! Have fun!

If I did any of the following:
shot the drive once with a .30 caliber rifle bullet?
shot it half a dozen times with a 9mm handgun?
used it as a clay pigeon for my shotgun (buckshot)?
removed the drive cover and bashed the platters with a ball peen hammer?
set it on fire for 1/2 hour with gasoline?
set off 3 grams of thermite on it?
opened the drive and set off an M80 on top the platters?
used a soldering gun (degauss device) to attempt to corrupt the data?
knifed the drive platters directly? (stabbing or slashing the platters)
used 80grit sand paper on the drive platters
dropped a drive with the cover removed into a sulfuric acid bath?
put a stick of dynamite under the drive and set if off?
welded a chain to the drive and drug it behind my car on the freeway for a couple hours (average day's commute to the city)?
stuck the opened drive in the dishwasher?
poured circuit board etching solution into an opened drive?
zapped the drive with a tesla coil?
ran it over with a tank?
threw it off a plane at 500 feet and 180 mph? (onto hard pavement)

could data be recovered by a professional if the drive suffered the listed kinds of extreme abuse or purposeful destruction?
an earlier yahoo! answers question about fastest way to destroying hard drives made me curious would shooting a hard drive actually work to permanently destroy the data? I recommended shooting the hard drive, I've used them for target practice before with good results, but I just want to be completely sure.

I am going to be getting a new gun. and i cant make up my mind which i want to get. I was look at the new smith and wesson m&p 15-22. It is a AR style .22 cal, and looks like a really nice gun. but i also am thinking about a semi-auto handgun. Which is more fun to shoot? also what cal. handgun is the best? i dont want something huge or tiny, yet something that wont cost $100 each mag of ammo. thanks.

Hello,

I am a 26yo Marine Corps infantry veteran, recent college graduate, and soon to be newly-wed. While I was in the USMC I had qualified both rifle and pistol expert. When I got out I moved to VA and purchased a .45(ACP) caliber pistol while in college, and continued to go to the range with it at least once or twice a month. As of graduation I plan to move back to my home state of IL, right outside of Chicago with my soon-to-be wife for a job opportunity. Now I am planning on purchasing a Mossberg 500 Field/Security combo for hunting and home defense in IL, mainly to give off the impression of a happy household. I also do not wish to register my pistol as VA has no registration laws, but IL does. While my fiance is generally not controlling, nor would she try to control me in this matter, I am sure she would have a little more peace of mind(especially if we have children in the future) with a legal shotgun in the gun cabinet, as opposed to an unregistered handgun. My plan is to lock my pistol up in its case and another lock box, and store it somewhere very hidden in our residence for a possible but not probable worst case scenario, and not for home defense. As it will be unregistered, I plan on only taking it out for immediate cleaning. My question is if say in 10 years hurricane Katrina x1000 comes through and ravages the country or something of that nature, registered guns are temporarily confiscated by authorities, and I have a need to use my pistol again, will my proficiency with this firearm have decreased to such a point that it is futile to even have it? Or will I be out of practice, but able to still apply the fundamentals of marksmanship(Sight alignment-sight picture, recoil management, etc)? I guess what I am asking as I learned to shoot in the Marines, and haven't taken time of since, is whether or not marksmanship is a sustainable skill without practice. My fiance is fine with the idea of hiding the pistol, obviously it would not be used in home defense as using an unregistered firearm, regardless of the circumstances would make me subject to various criminal charges.
To Michael;

I grew up in Southern IL, I was well aware of the FOID card, but was under the impression that guns must be registered. Now granted I haven't lived there for going on 8 years, maybe its like MD and other states De-Facto registration(required for guns sold from state dealers, but not for private citizens). Thanks for that info. As for the lockbox, that is the idea, however if I have children I think it best to still keep that hidden away real well. As a child(namely 11-13/14) I had a nack for getting into things I shouldn't, my old mans playboy collection, liquor cabinet, etc... All locked up very well, some hidden, but I knew they existed. Combine that with my then rebellious streak, had I know about my dad handguns, I would have most likely looked for it, found it, played whiteboy wannabe gangsta(no racism intended), and gotten myself in a mess of trouble. So keeping it very hidden and very secret is also part of the plan. Thank you for your answer, it was very helpful.
I can't quite figure out how to choose a "best answer" lol, sorry Michael

I saw this a long time ago and have tried before to find out with no success. The vault shows up exactly 19 min into the film and has the brand name Stello (assumed fake) on it. It has a keypad entry that automatically drops down the vault door revealing the gun in a holster connected to both the wall and the open door. This is the best handgun safe I have ever seen. Sure the name is probably fake but someone somewhere had to make it.

I forgot where I read or heard about it, I'm considering getting a license to own a handgun but I do not want to be put on some list that makes me a potential terrorist. Is there any truth in this?
